I came to a fairly simple revelation lately. I absolutely need to have something on my mind at all times or it starts getting to "The Dating Thread" territory. I got very much in a mode I don't like to get in, and throughout the whole thread. I will never again post anything about thoughts of asking someone out before I actually do it, because the whole dialogue just isn't good for your mind. All everyone did was make more nervous.

I used to wonder if the myth of a guy playing guitar attracts girls is true, and no, it isn't. A girl playing guitar attracts tons of guys (many of her videos have disabled comments because of this). A guy playing guitar is just another of the many guys playing guitar.

Probably 90% of the girls I've known are only interested in parties, clubbing, going to the beach and have no special hobbies or interests and are very boring to talk to. As in, I'd have no interest hanging out with the male equivalent of them. The small percentage of girls that have any common interests with me at all are going to have so many guys chasing them that the competition would be like fighting off an army. I've already experienced this is in real life- they don't even have to be that cute, just not ugly is good enough for this.

I spent the day yesterday with my friend and it's just incredible how the similarities are. We were at Hooters  (first time he'd been, second time for me) and talking about this girl at my work that used to flirt with us all the time. Anyways, I started to realize how incredibly similar our whole situation is. We're very, very much on the same wavelength. I don't think he's dated anyone either, and he's 23- he's never ever mentioned an ex-girlfriend and I've talked to him a lot over the nearly 2 years I've known him. He's not very big on going out and meeting people and just doesn't go to parties. He has friends that he has gone out and met- the guy at the tobacco store and some guy at the flea market. No girls that I know of.

So we were talking about the girl I was talking about on the other thread and he's just more honest. He doesn't care at all to hang out with her (I wanted us three to hang out together) because they have absolutely nothing in common. Same here. Really, I just wanted to like her and forget that she said she isn't into classical music because there's no singing in it. Or that every time you tell her a simple joke a little kid could understand, she just says, "huh?" This is the best candidate in 3 years?
