Not the g minor violin concerto?

Well, to me they are both among the absolute best XX century violin concertos, together with Berg's, Sibelius' (if only chronologically XX century) and a few others.
The G minor would be in the tier immediately below my top 5 works, together with Piano concerto 1, the other War Sonatas, Romeo and Juliet, Aleksandr Nevskij, Symphony 6 and others,

It is tough to trim down to a list of five ....

Indeed, it's tough in general, and especially with this guy here who excelled at everything, dear him.

Uh damn, I had missed the OP rule of "one symphony and one concerto only", sorry.

Well I guess I'll have to make two changes:

1) Piano concerto 2
2) Piano sonata 6
3) Violin sonata 1
4) Romeo and Juliet
5) Symphony 6

Violin Sonata in F minor
Piano Concerto 3
Fiery Angel
Symphony 5
Scythian Suite

Definitely notRomeo and Juliet(sorry fans). I should include Sonata 7 but I have to get that Violin Sonata in, it's so powerful.

Well, but why not?  The opinion does not offend me, I just want some discussion here  8)

It doesn't, to me, have the usual Prokofiev phrasing and balance. The melodies seem to dominate at the expense of overall harmonic structure, if that makes sense. Or maybe I just don't care for many of the more popular melodies. Perhaps it's more Romantic than his usual fare. I do like some of the dances, but if I were to introduce someone to the music of Prokofiev, I'd select something else.

Prokofiev was my favourite composer for 15 years, before I listened to all his compositions and then my tastes have changed. And now I can speak about him independently not as a fan.

I think his greatest achievements:
1. Piano concerto 2 and cantata Zdravitsa.
2. Symphony 6.
3. Opera Fiery Angel.
4. His last 3 ballets and opera War and Peace.

My favourite his composition: Symphonic poem "Meeting of the Volga and the Don".
It's very beauty and full of hidden humor.

Romeo and Juliet
Violin Sonata no. 1
Piano Concerto No. 2
Symphony No. 5
Kije

FWIW, the first time I heard his fifth symphony was on a Sunday morning, in bed on the top floor of a dasha. And it was via this recording, one of a small amount of vinyl I eventually took back to the West -

"You overestimate my power of attraction," he told her. "No, I don't," she replied sharply, "and neither do you".

1/ Cantata "7, they are 7"
2/ Piano concerto nr 5
3/ Symphony nr 5
4/ Violinconcerto 2
5/ Pianosonata nr 6

and this for some Russo-American nostalgia:

Well, I enjoyed that. Gary Graffman isn't someone I'd heard of before, but what an introduction.

And:
The Great Hall also hosts the largest music competitions and festivals, including the final auditions of the participants of the International Tchaikovsky Competition. In the 1920s and 1930s, the hall was also used as a cinema, and in 1940 it housed the 12th USSR Chess Championship. From the early 1950s till the late 1990s, Anna Chekhova was the permanent host of concerts in the Great Hall.

Sure. Recordings with Szell were regularly reissued.
I had also this LP for some time:

Excellent, thanks.
I'll order the Szell and go on from there.

I thought I was the only person to like Zdravitsa. I really love it, obviously without bearing in mind its lyrics and whom was dedicated.
