I hope thats not so.

I don't hope so, either ... and the fact that after an hour or so I can already access again almost seems great. Guess I have to be happy about small things on GMG nowadays - wow, a post not lost!  :o

What did you think of that one, Simon? I admit to having been a bit underwhelmed.

I'm afraid that was my reaction as well.

And look at that lineup! Gigi Gryce has always been a saxophonist I've enjoyed. His recordings on the now OJC (Original Jazz Classics) label (he's recorded mainly for the labels New Jazz, Prestige, Riverside, and a few others) are all excellent. His work with Donald Byrd and the Jazz Lab is also quite good.

Absolutely lovely playing . . . and sound!

Arrived today:

Keith Tippett, the great british bandleader, pianist and composer, is not doing well - a fund has been set up, and we're all encouraged to buy the above disc (costs covered, all proceeds go to Keith Tippett directly) at the label that produced it, Discus - bought one for myself and another one for a good friend whom I'll meat a jazz concert tonight. Starts out with some gorgeous music, if it goes on like this, I'm inclined to agree with the rating given in this review:
