Steve Gadd: Gadditude

This is an interesting and very appealing sound world. I like the overall relaxed atmosphere, tone, rhythms and direction of the album overall. It is a very chilled but also an engaging sound world. It also has some fine guitar and keyboard work. The drumming is not half bad either! The music is exciting and well driven.

An amazing drummer! Never heard that album, though. Love his studio drumming for Steely Dan, Paul Simon, etc.

Interesting. I did not know of him prior to listening to this album.

Yeah, that's a cool line up. Criss Cross together with SteepleChase have been my recent most favourite jazz labels.

How's Eastern Rebellion, by the way? I saw it among new reissues.

SimonNZ

Eastern Rebellion is essential listening and was the highlight of last night's marathon. It was actually a pity I played it first because the other fine albums couldn't match it - with the exception maybe of the much quieter Quartrt West.

Houston Person: Nice "n" Easy

The sound matches the description. However, it is not so easy that it is dull or boring. On the contrary, the album moves along quite well and it is driven very well in places. It is more that the overall atmosphere is Nice "n" Easy. There are some very smooth slow numbers on the album. Everybody involved contributes very well and the sound quality is excellent, especially that of the saxophone.

Blue Velvet, Houston Person. Inspired by the post above by Aligreto.  ;D

The lettering is a clear nod to the Sinatra album. Is there any other connection?

You sound right. Otherwise, this maybe what Carl Jung called Synchronicity!   ;D
