You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Any small group with Miles and Art Blakey as members are not to be sniffed at. :P

I like that album title.

Although I grew up with and am very familiar with the Columbia Masterworks series, I hadn't encountered that one before finding it in the secondhand store yesterday.

As for Benny Goodman, I think he continued to take lessons from a prominent classical clarinet player (forgot the name) throughout his life and his playing kept improving until his death. Actually I like his recordings in the 1960-80s. I would like to recommend the fine compilation below.

The name of his teacher was a chap named Reginald Kell.
Under his guidance Goodman underwent major changes in his playing technique.
Goodman, as you know, was also quite active in the Classical Music field.

Good to know about the guy's name!
I haven't checked his classical recordings.
How are they?
