Why are some japanese releases better sounding than original?

Maybe it was discussed here before, but it is often considered that Japanese releases/pressings (maybe older ones) of classical music (not only) just sound better. I mean better than the same US or Europe releases.

Why's that? Because of their better technology, better remastering, or what? Or it is just psychoacoustics?

I assume you're speaking of vinyl here where the quality of Japanese pressings is legendary (and true in my experience).  It's generally thought by audiophiles that the quality of their vinyl is superior; also (re: used LPs) records cost more in Japan and typically they keep better care of them.  I personally have found no difference in Japanese-minted CDs.
