Greenshieldstamp

Hello everyone

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to your community. My name is Martyn and I have enjoyed listening to classical music for the last 35 years (since I was sixteen).  I used to buy many classical albums but in the last 15 yrs or so I have been exploring jazz and progressive rock.  Recently I bought Bernard Haitink's Shostakovich symphony cycle and Bernstein's Mahler symphony cycle (CD box sets).  These recordings have reinvigorated my interest in classical music. I now want to focus my listening entirely on classical music and would like to further expand my knowledge and appreciation of classical forms.

I was intrigued to see if you were of a "certain vintage" given your tag of Greenshieldstamp. They take me back a few years  8) ;D

Welcome, Martyn! Those Haitink and Bernstein performances are terrific, and you will find many fellow admirers of them here. Have a good time, and I suspect you will discover a lot of new music in short order.
