Hello everyone!

My name is Dino and I'm glad to be a part of this forum, one I have lurked about for far too long. Naturally, I adore classical music and love all the usual suspects: Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Mozart, etc. I also thoroughly enjoy finding lesser-known composers from the Classical/Romantic era as there are so many neglected works that are quite astounding in the music they contain. Of course, I love talking about all of this and look to share and enjoy some good conversations with all of you here.

I write a blog, where I talk about technology and classical music, entitled Code and Coda. You can read and follow it here:

I appreciate any questions, comments, criticisms, and suggestions that anyone might have.

Most of all, I look forward to enjoying my time here and talking with you all!

Welcome to GMG, esMussSein!  :)  The username looks familiar...were you a member here at a previous time?

Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind welcome, ChamberNut!

I signed up a few years ago but never posted. Life, and various other circumstances, ended up getting in the way and I just could never make time. Now I plan on being much more active, thankfully!

Hi Dino, and welcome. Nice-looking blog, and nothing wrong with "the usual suspects" - they're "the usual suspects" for a reason.

What part of the world are you in? Anyway, enjoy your time here - lots of interesting people who like all kinds of music.

Thanks Karl and Bruce.

Nothing wrong with them, indeed; I wouldn't be here without them.

I live near Chicago. I will certainly enjoy myself here.

Hello and welcome, Dino!

Do you listen to much outside of the classical & romantic eras (both can certainly keep me busy for long times)?

Ah, now I'm envious, Dino: you probably get to hear Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra fairly often (not to mention all the other groups in town). That fabulous orchestra would be a huge plus of living in that part of the country. I try to hear them at Carnegie Hall every time they are here.

Thank you all, your kind welcomes are all much appreciated!

North Star, I listen to baroque music the most outside of classical/romantic era stuff. Sadly, I've never been much of a fan, nor able to get into, music from the late 19th to 20th century, Brahms excluded of course.  ;)

Bruce, unfortunately, recent circumstances have curtailed my visits to the CSO so it's been quite some time since I was last there to enjoy a concert. But, I've been planning to see some concerts there this spring, and it will certainly be a welcome return. They are a big plus, no doubt.

There's enough music for several lifetimes there already. :)   (that said, you might give Sibelius's Symphony no. 3, Poulenc's Les Biches, Stravinsky's Pulcinella and Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet a go ;) )

Thanks North Star, I will definitely give those a listen as soon as I can. Actually, I'm little familiar with Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet: I like some of it and find it to be quite interesting but, as with most music of that era, it is a real curate's egg.
