Tannhäuser

Since I've been asked to post one, here is my presentation.

My name is Philippe, I live and work near Paris, France and read this forum for a long time. I felt I had to react to the debate about the terrorist attacks. I listen to classical music everyday, mainly German music from the 19th Century. I'll try to contribute to musical topics but generally feel I don't have many things to SAY about music, and that most of the times nothing interesting can be SAID about it, as it is a kind of language that can't be translated into another.
Of course I have opinions (my favorite musician is Karajan... my least favorite is Boulez...) but everyone is entitled to an opinion (as we say "les goûts et les couleurs"...).

Welcome to the forum, have a nice time here!
I'm glad to know you're an admirer of Karajan, he's my favourite conductor too; and great to see you love German romantic composers.
Excellent choice for the username.

Welcome. Please don't be put off by some of the postings in political threads. They can get a bit heated.

Indeed.  I find it best to avoid them . . . .

Is that username supposed to be the way the French pronounce Tannhäuser? Or just a typo...

Howdy there Philippe. Greetings from a Yankee living in Vienna, Austria. You can add me to the "Karajan is my favorite conductor" fan club as well. Welcome to the forum.  8)

Thanks for your warm welcome (and for correcting the bad typo in my username)

No worries!  The language of use here (for good or ill) is English, and we English speakers are very lax about the diacritics of other languages!  :)

Karl, I often learn things from your posts.  For example, I had to look up "diacritic" just now. 8) ;D
