The composition and motif is quite good, but the setting itself dates from Schoenberg´s early period, rather than Schubert´s

You are right, but --- Schubert himself woudn´t have refrained from having a pint or two with his friends while composing a dozen Lieder, would he?

Yes, and there were probably moments when matters like exact chronology became less important

It also makes me wonder whether the photo was done intentionally while Brüggen was still alive, or if he was propped there when the body was still warm.
