I never thought I'd find something as angelic as Ave Maria. So I didn't dare dream I'd ever find something better, I mean Ave Maria has 35 million views, it must be the best right? I was wrong!!  This, this is the best piece I have ever heard. It surpasses all feelings I've ever felt.

For the first time in about 10 years, I have shed a tear. And it was a tear of bewildered happiness.

Zbigniew Preisner is a polish composer of film music.  He wrote the music for almost all Kieslowski movies.  This particular piece was written for "La double vie de Véronique",
and H. Van den Budenmayer is an imaginary composer who never existed and was invented by Preisner or Kieslowski for the purpose of this movie.

Ah yes: I liked it !

Funny how musical taste works, as this 'ultimate piece' did nothing for me (and felt a bit heavy handed, to be honest).

There is a Preisner composition that moves me, though:

Very straightforward, very effective.

Indeed - tastes differ. During the VRT KLARA Festival, we had a whole Preisner concert (including that horrible Lacrimosa) in Brussels a couple of weeks ago.  I found it impossible to digest...
