Hello everyone! I'd just like to point out a great Croatian/Yugoslavian jazz figure that's probably quite unknown in the world.
Boško Petrović was a great vibraphonist and a great band leader who also owned a club here in my home town of Zagreb in which he gathered a lot of great musicians and made great music with or without them; including Quincy Jones, Clark Terry, Ernie Willkins and Art Farmer, Joe Pass, Buck Clayton and Joe Turner, Buddy de Franco, Kenny Drew, N. H. O. Pedersen, Alvin Queen, Georgie Fame and others. Here's a great album which I think is worth while listening to to anyone who knows what music and jazz music in particular is all about.

I hope you will enjoy the subtle and less subtle notes of Boško and his "convention". Here is a great compilation of compositions written by himself and his colleagues in which the trumpet is played by Clark Terry (in most of them anyway):

Excuse me if everything is not grammatically correct ^^

He also looks like he needed to run a few laps around the ol' polje.
When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."

Btw, from the content of your post, it sounds like this should be placed in the Jazz section - all those players are jazzmen.
Did he compose any music which comes under the Classical genre?

That's probably why this topic is in The Jazz Lounge.  8)

^ It was originally in the (Classical) Composer Discussion.  A mod moved it.

I was sure I posted it in the jazz lounge, but I could be wrong. Would have been nice if you had also commented on the music instead of just talk about his body-weight  ;)
