I am now going to say something despicable and arrogant about myself that probably does not belong here.

I am an amateur musician who is a retired government auditor who lives in the metropolitan area of Washington, DC.  I live in Fairfax County.

Professional musicians have talent.  We amateurs have something professional do not.  We have money.

I know a horn player who owns three horns.  One for the band he plays with, one for the orchestra and a third for whatever.

I know of sax player who own complete sets of saxophones from soprano to baritone.  And we are talking about Yamahas or Selmers.

When we have extra money we buy another horn not a set of Tiger Wood Golf Clubs.

I have over 2600 hundred CD's in my library and I am embarrassed to tell anyone how many musical instruments I own.  OK, I will fess up.

One piano
One oboe
One Bb soprano clarinet
One flute (Which I can not get sound out of.  I have been trying to for fifty years.)
One alto saxophone
Two bassoons (One for outdoors and one for indoor concerts)
One contrabassoon

I am now in the market for a bass clarinet.

Karl Henning

Well, you ought to spend your money on musical instruments rather than golf clubs, I should say.  And you don't want to play your good indoor bassoon out in the weather.

I hope you find a good bass clarinet, and that I might borrow it once in a while  8)

Only one piano? But, but... you can't have friends over to play 2-piano works!

"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.

I played tenor when I was in the 75th Army Band.  All the groups I am playing now with sax players coming out of the ears.  The reason I am getting a bass clarinet is three of the groups I play with need a bass clarinetist.

Hah. Some of these will be 'like new' CDs for me as I haven't heard them in so long! ;D

I´m genuinely interested in the actual number of CDs in your collection - a comprehensive library is just a great thing to own, but 260,000 seems less  likely, after all ...?

...and a soprano sax (straight-line + both varieties of curved) and... what the hell, a  sarrusophone.
