Moonlight

I've heard about this place from the oft-mentioned "other forum" and thought I might see if it's as good as promised. Already I see a few familiar names!

Lets start a game: which movie has the moonlight sonata in the soundtrack.
I'll start with Roman Polanski
What ? (very sensuous with Marcello Mastroianni)
The pianist (very dramatic with Adrien Brody).

Maybe someone should compose a "Moonlight Sonata," since, as far as I know, one does not exist ;-)

Ha! Yes, I think Il Commendatore would rather not be trivialised by naming the sonata after his death scene 'moonlight!' I do believe that the literary symbol of the moon (and it's connotations - lunacy etc) has little to do with his character at that point in Don Giovanni anyway. But the most obvious parallel between the Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia and Il Commendatore's death scene are the musical motifs and texture above all.
