Senta (Greta). She started the Mahler Reboot thread  8)

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

So that's one vote for Senta. Check. :)

I'm not to be trusted on this - but my vote is for Olivier. :)

Good choice. His Mahler collection is legendary.

He's still "active"...just doesn't post as regularly as he used to.

Sarge

It's too bad I can't get my dad to become a member and post here at GMG as he goes down in my book as the greatest Mahlerian.

I vote for Sarge. I noticed his love of Mahler when it seemed most of you liked other composers more. Not only that, but IIRC, his favorite symphony is No. 6, which is my favorite as well. I am no slouch, either, as I like Mahler more than any other composer. But my vote goes to Sarge.

And I thought you didn't like Mahler, Mirror Image.

Unless you can dig up something I wrote negatively or where I said I disliked Mahler's music here, then, yes, you thought correctly, but, thankfully, it's false as I love Mahler's music even though I may not listen to it as much as the Sarge. :)

Ah, but you still voted for someone and in this case you chose wisely. Long live, Anton!!!! :D

Quote from: Mirror Image on January 31, 2012, 01:37:56 PMMahler was a master musician and composer. He certainly wasn't a noodle-head. I don't like a lot of his music but this by no means doesn't mean I don't respect what he accomplished.

I don't know about "greatest Mahlerian," but I enjoyed Jens's blog series a lot.

Wow, thanks for bringing up some sore memories! ;) But, in my defense, this was four years ago and I believe I've matured a lot as a listener. I've certainly heard a lot more music since that time. [Facepalm] I can't believe I called him a noodle-head. :-\ How wrong I was...

Where's Mahlerian? I thought he was the biggest Mahlerian?

I'm just the one who took it as his moniker.  That doesn't necessarily make me a shoo-in for the title, even though I certainly had the reputation for biggest Mahlerian over at the other forum.
"l do not consider my music as atonal, but rather as non-tonal. I feel the unity of all keys. Atonal music by modern composers admits of no key at all, no feeling of any definite center." - Arnold Schoenberg

I've read the way you discuss Mahler not only on this forum, but the other one as well, and your knowledge is quite impressive. You get my vote. I don't know your history with his music and I know that Sarge has listened to Mahler for decades, but that doesn't necessarily make one a Mahlerian per se. Jeffrey Smith is also huge Mahlerian as is Jens. The vote wasn't an easy one by any means.
