According to Jerry Falwell Jr., evangelicals have "found their dream president," which says something about the current quality of evangelical dreams.

This is very interesting, thanks for posting. My only comment is that the downfall of evangelicalism was written on the same wall on which Luther nailed his 95 theses.

It was the first, and a huge step, towards a religious tradition in which the final authority on what the Bible means, is the man at the pulpit of your congregation.

When that is the environment, whether your pastor tells you to drink poisoned Kool-Aid, or tells you that Jesus wants you to vote Republican down the ticket, depends upon that frail thing:  one man's character.


To reseal the can and return to the thread, thus we have tens of thousands of Evangelical voters whose consciences are "clear," because they have been told that God willed Trump to be President.  Their pastor told them so!

Tillerson apparently had no idea either. In addition to his calling out the Russians for the use of a nerve agent in Great Britain, Tillerson hasn't shown the proper enthusiasm about trashing the Iran nuclear deal, whereas Pompeo has.

Of course, Tillerson was a Putin appointee to begin with, so it is hardly surprising he got to dismiss him too.
