Have you any odd habits that perhaps set you apart from most GMGers? I do. I refuse to condemn a man for something before he does it.

I very, very rarely do comparative listening. ;D

I used to do the opposite: I kept my right nails long and left very short when I played classical guitar. Now, both are short since I switched to the piano.

I've never been drunk and never drink alcohol.

I spend way too much time with my music files: CD ripping, tagging, database entries, etc...
I suspect its a rather widespread GMG habit.

I only wear odd socks.

That is odd  ;D  Although I knew a guy in high school (he probably had the highest IQ) who was laughed at by the "cool kids" (including my sister) for wearing non-matching socks. He confessed to me that he did it on purpose...which is truly cool  8)

Although maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "odd" socks.

That's what I mean, yeah! It actually started to happen  because my 9 year old sister and I happened to be wearing mismatching socks one day and our 15 year old sister flipped out because she loves everything to be all matching and perfect and orderly...so we just kept doing it.

I believe I am the only GMGer to re-insert CD brochures in jewel cases so that the stapled side faces rightmost.  This reduces wear and tear on same and makes removal easier.  For reasons that escape me, this practice annoys the living daylights outta some people, which only makes it even more worth doing. Still, for the life o' me, I don't understand why more collectors don't do this...

Probably my favorite film...among the Top 10 anyway.

This attitude "annoys the living daylights outta" me. I had to drop a friend who referred to himself as "a contrarian," doing things for the sole purpose of annoying people. He thrives on negative attention and it proved embarrassing at times to go out in public with him. Obviously, how you put booklets in jewel cases does not rise to this level of annoyingness.

When I want my staples on the right I just turn the case around. Removing and re-inserting the booklet is far more work.

I've met several contrarians - they often see themselves as consummate debaters (and it's possible Brahms may have been someone like your former friend, some of the time at least).  I don't make a habit of annoying people, as far as I know, or have been told (do let me know if otherwise...)
