Well, the US is a big place, so the fact that I've never heard that expression is no refutation.

Well, Urban Dictionary says it's an Australian expression.  So perhaps it has yet to make its way to New England.

Around here (Florida) one used to hear about men wearing swimsuits Brazilian style, or even worse, Quebec style.  Which is to say, men wearing such swimsuits who had no business wearing them--of which the snowbirds from Quebec were at one time frequently guilty.

Fortunately, swimsuit styles have lengthened over the years, so the offense has passed out of style.
