Do you do your own tax return? Do you use a tax preparer?

Yes. No, Turbo Tax.

I tried to use Turbo this year but gave up. I've been going to HRBlock for years, so I ended up taking everything to them again. This afternoon I'm going back to finish and pay up.

We have a family accountant that does ours every year, so, no, I don't do my own.

My taxes are fairly easy to complete. Don't own a house. don't own my own business, with the help of a few W-2's it's a quick process. And I've been using TT for 6 or 7 years now, so it's become more about the convenience really.

I am in just the opposite situation: I have a home with a mortgage, a farm which I own free and clear, my farm is a business, so have both business taxes and agricultural taxes, as well as a regular job, investments and my wife's income. If I didn't pay an accountant to do them for me, I would no doubt pay a lot more in taxes, so worth every penny. :-\

All I have is SS and my investments. The investments include partnership units, though, which require a separate form for for each -ship, occasionally more than one.

In Finland the tax authority sents everyone a tax proposal and if you happy with it you don't have to do anything. Since there is nothing I can deduct, there is nothing I have to do. Simple! :)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Yes but you guys are gloomy and drink too much because your taxes are too high and it's cold.

I don't use alchohol, the winter was pretty warm and  paying taxes is pretty ok when you get things in return. I don't have to whine about premiums like "Obamacared" americans do.  ;)

Abso-freaking-lutely use a tax preparer. Our taxes are fairly simple, but this guy is damn good, knows his shite (is an IRS enrolled agent and CPA), and charges very little. We have saved so much $$$ over the years because of his expertise, his fees have paid for themselves ten times over.

I can give you U.S. people a referral if you want. He can do them remotely if you fax your forms.

As a point of reference here are the OECD country taxes on wage earners ranked high to low:

I paid up today. It was more this year than last on account of an IRA I had to sell for some arcane reason. That bumped me into the next bracket. Anyway it's done.
