Can anyone identify the music heard from 00:00-00:56 and again from 57:57-59:22? The title means 'What music's wind saw' but it is no Debussy whatsoever

Even shazam failed to catch it!

I mean the music immediately at the beginning and at the end of the clip. See durations in my original message

Florestan

It begins by sounding like Brahms and then goes on to sounding like Mahler. Now I'm as intrigued as you are.   :)

It doesn't sound very germanic though... rather russian

But it sounds like a Brittish composer!  :D

Q
British? and why not Scandinavian please? ???

Florestan

I'd say, rather French, or possibly Romanian.

The melody mostly reminds me of Eleni Karaindrou's music.

I heard what must be the Greek word for "concerto" and "Sergei Rachmaninoff" just after 1:00.

Yeah, thanks, we know that. Our point of interest is in what lies BEFORE 1:00 and after 57:57 to the end

He, he ... not a fan, I guess? I don't know her music beyond Theo Angelopoulos films, maybe it gets cheerier elsewhere?

No, I like her music, she is a major composer and her scores fit to Angelopoulos' movies like a glove.

Her music is so repetitive and her variation never stray away from the main theme.  Aucun interet
I somehow bought a few soundtracks.  Two listen and you have heard the theme 200 times.

sounds like.. something but I've no idea.   The next program (not the concerto) looks interesting, I'll come back to this site again

Many thanks! Impossible to think of it as a Debussy work, even of his being 18yrs old! Many thanks again!
