Peter Gabriel - 3 (Melt)

I guess you're finding Peter Gabriel OK then.

Not sure yet if I enjoy his music but I am definitely intrigued and impressed by the variety on show, Steve.

Contrary to the previous artists I have explored sometimes briefly and ruthlessly, I am going to spend more time with Peter Gabriel, David Bowie and Kate Bush and take their albums in full and chronologically. Arbitrary call I know but their discography probably deserve such approach more than some other artists I have looked at so far  :blank:  ;D

I only vaguely recall Peter Gabriel from a friend's collection years ago, but it sounds like a good plan. As long as you can make it past Bowie's first album ;).

Sleep - Sleep's Holy Mountain. Excellent pastiche of Black Sabbath Master Of Reality and Vol 4 tunes with song titles such as Dragonaut, The Druid, Evil Gypsy although with their own vocal style 8).

That's the only Sabbath album i have so that's gone on the YT watch later list  ;D

Master Of Reality? It's very consistent, Vol 4 is more varied and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath different again.

I wish you luck on that interesting sounding odyssey. I can't recall hearing more than a couple of Gabriel's solo songs, so now seems as good a moment as any.

Thank you for posting that link.  I did enjoy it.

Forget here who recommended two CDs of Patty Griffin's (when I asked for suggestions of which to purchase), but I did run across a copy of one of them:  Impossible Dream (I sampled it briefly in the store and liked what I heard there).  Will report back after listening to it.

Today's blind spots :

Robert Wyatt - Rock bottom                  Robert Wyatt - Ruth is stranger than Richard

and the continuing Peter Gabriel cycle (no.4)

Just listened to Patty Griffin's "Impossible Dream" which I enjoyed though a bit too mellow for me at the start of the day.

Not certain what is up next....

How did you find it?  Getting the impression that you liked it?

I particularly enjoy "The Man with the Child in His Eyes" and "Wuthering Heights".

Wuthering Heights and Babooshka had never really worked for me as the 2 or 3 tracks I only knew from Kate Bush, however, hearing that very particular voice on different styles and tempi has really impressed me so far. Had to stop my listening after halfway but I look forward to discovering further.

The one thing that you need to keep in mind here, other than the incredible talent, is how old she was when she wrote this stuff.
