Thank you for posting that link.  I did enjoy it.

Forget here who recommended two CDs of Patty Griffin's (when I asked for suggestions of which to purchase), but I did run across a copy of one of them:  Impossible Dream (I sampled it briefly in the store and liked what I heard there).  Will report back after listening to it.

Today's blind spots :

Robert Wyatt - Rock bottom                  Robert Wyatt - Ruth is stranger than Richard

and the continuing Peter Gabriel cycle (no.4)

Just listened to Patty Griffin's "Impossible Dream" which I enjoyed though a bit too mellow for me at the start of the day.

Not certain what is up next....

How did you find it?  Getting the impression that you liked it?

I particularly enjoy "The Man with the Child in His Eyes" and "Wuthering Heights".

Wuthering Heights and Babooshka had never really worked for me as the 2 or 3 tracks I only knew from Kate Bush, however, hearing that very particular voice on different styles and tempi has really impressed me so far. Had to stop my listening after halfway but I look forward to discovering further.

The one thing that you need to keep in mind here, other than the incredible talent, is how old she was when she wrote this stuff.

Yes, I read that on the qobuz side notes while listening, written mostly at 15, recorded at 16 and 19. Just incredible... I think her discography will be quite a trip  :)

Buckle up and enjoy.

Are you OK with the voice [you know how you are in that department  ;D]?

greg

Really been into this album, even did a cover of one of the songs... can't believe it's almost been a year ago.

Well, for now this really works. It is a massive wallop like the first time i heard Joni Mitchell's Blue. Way up there.

I'll have to space out the other albums and the replays of that one not to spoil the effect. I just want to press replay on so many tracks right now. Best blind spot off my explorations to date.  0:)

Just read that Peter Green passed away today (beginning of Fleetwood Mac for those of you who might not know).  Sorry to read it.

A seminal recording.
+1

As for KB I've always liked this album:
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

Well that is a great relief indeed. Had it not been so, you would have deserved a slap across the ear with a wet fish. As it is you have avoided that ignominy  ;D

BTW, to the best of my now fading memory, I believe that we have David Gilmour [Pink Floyd] to thank for this as I think I remember that he gave her the money to finance the album.
