Hello, I just wanted to start a page where I could post my compositions. I welcome all feedback, good or bad. I don't have any formal training in composition, but I've played the viola and piano for a while, recreationally. I feel like I've been getting better, although my lack of knowledge about theory is probably hindering the growth.

I have more, but I will be adding them later on. If you want scores, just let me know, and I can attach them.

The opus numbers don't really mean anything, they just help me keep track of the order in which I finish my compositions. I don't consider these earlier pieces exactly as among my better works, but I think they're decent enough to share them with you all. 

Here's a list of works I've added to my playlist so far:

I have added two pieces to my playlist:

• Op. 7: Violin Sonata No. 1
• Op. 8: Concertino for Viola and String Orchestra

The former was written for a Piano and Violin competition, which I hastily finished, but not in time. 

The latter was basically my largest project up until that point, and at 7 minutes 15 seconds, is probably the longest piece I have completed yet. (I have a longer and larger piece in progress, a symphony, but I have not yet completed it, and have not worked on it for a while).

3 more pieces added. At this point, these are all of my completed compositions (that I'm content enough with), and my composing has slowed down as of late, so it's unlikely I'll post more anytime soon.

• Op. 9: Winter Pictures
• Op. 10: Trio for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano
• Op. 11: Nocturne for Piano

Winter Pictures is for orchestra, in 3 short sections (I. Winter Night, II. Snowstorm, III. Holidays), it was written for a competition.
Trio is for a rare, but nice combination of instruments, it has some inspirations from across the musical timeline.
Nocturne was written for a competition and meant to evoke the night.

I gave a little feedback on your Op. 10. It is not something I would ordinarily listen to, aesthetically we are definitely not on the same wavelength, but disregarding such differences I think you are doing quite well in terms of building on your previous efforts with each piece, which is about the best any composer can hope for. I wish more of this success for your future compositions.

I agree that we're probably not totally on the same wavelength aesthetically, but we're also probably closer than our compositions suggest. I try to experiment in different styles, but without much knowledge of music theory, I don't feel I'm able to write music similar to that which I listen to and enjoy (which includes Baroque through Contemporary) very well, so I just write what I feel capable of doing, but I still try to challenge myself to do something different every time.

You're right, we tend toward different styles, but we seem to come at composition from a similar position of disadvantage. I also feel the need to do something that is new to me with each piece, I don't know that I always succeed, but I suppose that's why I've slowed down so much.
