Finding the name of a classical piece

 I am looking for the name of the contemporary classical piece I heard on the radio it was composed about 40 years ago for chorus and orchestra and I believe it comes in approximately six parts the opening of the piece is a very strong marching  best and later on goes on to describe The distinction  of war one of the themes is to fear the soldier does anyone know the title of this piece
