If this story is accurate, it looks like the players have rejected the ATP options/suggestions (in terms of leaving Dubai) and stay in their hotels instead.

It seems trying to leave from Oman or Riyadh means competing with several thousand other stranded passengers, so there's no guarantee they'd be able to get to California in time, or how jet lagged they would be when they got there.  NPR mentioned yesterday that 1100 flights per day have been cancelled.  Hunkering down in Dubai until the chaos subsides might be the best option.

I see that today is the third day of qualifying rounds at Indian Wells.

Yup!  I had heard/read that Medvedev was there with his wife and two children.  Besides the men's doubles teams who were there for the finals, I imagine that there would be a few chair umpires, team members (like coaches and physios, etc.) and perhaps other officials plus Griekspoor and his team.  The article said that 40 tennis people were involved.  Medvedev isn't due to play until Friday, so who knows?  I just hope that all of them get out alive and healthy.

Roger has a home in Dubai.  I know that he went to at least the first round when his compatriot and friend Stan Wawrinka was playing.  Hoping that they are well.

Also Rublev is stuck there along with the Danish player Holger Rune (in Doha).
