And on to JSB:

Well, for me this is truly "a blast from the past".. One of the 1st Bach organ recordings I ever bought, with a fancy white opaque case. I haven't listened for years, but what a marvelous recording this is - with exhilarating performances.

PHILIPPE VERDELOT (c 1480 - c.1530)
Madrigals for 4 Voices.
From the collection "tutti li madrigali del primo et del secondo libro" (published in 1540).
Instrumental works: Io son tal volta; Si dimostrarvi a pieno; Con lagrime et sospir; Ben che'l misero cor.
Profeti della Quinta.
Cover picture: "Mary with the Child and Singing Angels" (detail), Sandro Botticelli (c1477).

Well this is on all counts a winner. You love madrigals, and like it intimate, stop searching, salvation has arrived. :) I am not easily convinced by voices, but this is exceptional. To my ears they do everything right and nothing wrong. Superb voices, pristine viol consort, together they create a balance, insight, and a strong sense in their diction and expression. A special feature of the interpretation is that each singer sings from the originally notated individual part - unlike in a modern score with parts notated one above the other. The musicians therefore have to listen to each other much more closely and react immediately. This spontaneity can be felt in every second of the recording and takes me back to the beginnings of the Italian madrigal in a lively way. Verdelot at its best, his music and words are caressed by this ensemble, and it gets a matching recording. Buy it or stream it, but do not miss it, for I will be very cross with you ;D  ;D  ;D
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Traverso

Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710-1784).
Six Sonatas for Two Flutes. (Six minor masterpieces)
Manuel Granatiero — traverso (primo in Sonata no. 1, Duets nos. 5–6).
Eleonora Bišćević — traverso (primo in Sonatas nos. 2–4).
Recording, 2022, Chiesa di S. Eligio dei Ferrari, Rome, Italy.

The six duos by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach stand out as the most substantial, complex, and technically demanding of the many Solo flute works I ever heard. And this is praise it deserves. I never heard them before, but this interpretation can be considered as a reference, as a performance and SOTA recording. Both soloists use flutes that are soft on the ears, and so rich in expression and sound, I feel privileged on both counts to hear it in such pristine sound quality. These sonatas are truly masterworks, no doubt about that. Another recommendation, the second this very Sunday.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,

for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

It is astounding how many recordings of these not-so-mainstream pieces have popped up in recent years!

DIETRICH BUXTEHUDE (c.1637-1707)
Suonate à doi, Violine & Viola da gamba con Cembalo.
(Sonate À Doi, Violine & Viola Da Gamba • Opus 1 & 2)
Opera prima - Hambourg [1694] Opera secunda- Hambourg 1696.
Les Timbres. (Two CD'S)
Yoko Kawakubo, violin,  Myriam Rignol, Gamba,  Julien Wolfs, Harpsichord.
Harpsichord made by Jean-Luc Wolfs-Dachy in Lathuy (Belgium) in 2009, copy of Johannes Ruckers (1624)
Recording in April & September 2017 at Bolland (Belgium).
Front cover,  Melchior de Hondecoeter, DasVogelkonzert, 1670

These sonatas surprise with their freedom,  unusual progressions, hidden ornaments, ingenious colorations. Stylus phantasticus in full colours and both opus numbers no less. A  playground for  multitudes of emotions, both sensitive and jubilant. Les Timbres do themselves proud with this finely chiseled and refined performance, elegant and supremely balanced. There are a lot of superb details to be found in this pristine recording. Two hours of listening feels like a present when the music comes so unforced and flowing into one's listening den.

Agree - I was just reviewing Amazon and found a lot of single-disc selections (the ones shown previously are the complete works in that genre) - what struck my interest was the new one below - there is a video on the site of the two discussing the project - is another recording in the future? Dave

P.S. Video mentioned above added.
