Quote from: André on February 19, 2026, 12:23:14 PMIt's only normal we all missed the point: memes are communication winks for the initiates. They are transitory in nature because they allude to a person, an event that drew some attention but will be forgotten in a few weeks or months. When thrown at a larger public their meaning dissolves into a flurry of question marks. Better to use real syntax and vocabulary.

As @Daverz aptly put it, this is so old-fart-ish. Real what and what? To hell with syntax and vocabulary --- all you need is a picture, and if nobody gets its meaning, it's oh so easy to tell them "you all missed the point" without even as much as condescending to elaborate your point for the enlightenment of the poor dimwits. In other words, to hell with politeness and civil discourse as well!

I cannot believe that that meme has caused so much racket. Here many people act like they are so sophisticated and refined that something like that is taken like puerile. But when they do it, it's cool.  ::)

I recommend everybody to chill out a bit. A lot, better.
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL more than ever!

I have to follow up that Vask's Viatore hit me hard. Don't think I've ever heard this composer before, must explore more.

Another kind of Rossi.
Works by. Michelangelo Rossi (1602-1656) , Tarquinio Merula (1590-1665) , Maurizio Cazzati (1620-1677)
Violin, Davide Monti, Arpa Doppia, Maria Christina Cleary.
PDF file with this recording (Qobuz) is corrupted, it does not give info but a few technical lines.
Could not find a back cover. Recorded 2024 or 2025.

Let's be clear about this recording, it aims to provide a fresh, "anti-stress" perspective on the music, prioritizing a beautiful and expressive, rather than purely analytical, interpretation, The album explores what 17th-century Italian keyboard Toccatas by Michelangelo Rossi (1601–1656) might have sounded like if performed on the Arpa doppia (chromatic triple-row Baroque harp) in Rome 400 years ago.
And as such it works for me, it's beautifully done, superb recorded, and well.. it has an relaxing effect, with does not mean that the quality of the music is compromised. and lets be fair, the composers in those times regularly made arrangements of existing works, so this performance fits in perfectly. And the Toccatas by Rossi work wonderfully with the Violin and Arpa doppia, as do the other works on this disc. Maybe not authentic but musical any day.

It has nothing to do with whether it's puerile. It has to do with whether you're trying to communicate. We presume that you are, and tell you when you're failing.

Your response wasn't to explain, it was simply to tell us all that we didn't understand - something we already knew, and had already told you. And somehow you made that a reflection on us, not you, even though a whole LOT of people didn't understand. And it's not even that we didn't understand the meme. The emotion in the picture is clear enough. What we didn't understand is why you were using it. If your post had just been an eye-roll emoji the situation would be pretty much the same.

If you simply don't care whether people understand you or not, then maybe message boards are not for you.

I believe that long time ago prémont recommended these recordings?  :)

The organ featured is that of the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre in Poitiers.

More good performances of music for the drawing room. The "La farfalletta" aria about a butterfly flitting around sounds exactly as it should.  Hopefully Cantate per soprano II isn't too far away.

Fantasia de mon triste.
Renaissance Lute virtuosi of Rome and Venice.
Francesco Spinacino (fl. 1507) , Vincenzo Capirola (1474-1548) , Francesco Canova da Milano (1497-1543).
Christopher Wilson, Lute.
Recorded, 1985,Singing Room of  St. Paul's Girls School, London, Originally released in 1987 on Hyperion as 'La Compagna' (CDA66233),re-released on the label Metronome in 1996 or 2007.
No PDF file.

This is a outstanding performance by Wilson, in superb sound. The funny thing is that the Fantasia de Mon Triste is marked as not available in this reissue, I see it marked with red letters as not Available. Begs the question, why?. Anyways, in all respect this is a recording not to be missed, for it is one of the very best Wilson recorded. Three fine composers and Lute music that makes the heart melt.

The organ featured is that of the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre in Poitiers.

Alain recorded the Messes of F. Couperin several times. First time around 1970 on the Poitiers organ and again on the same organ about 1997. The one I recommended must have been the 1970 recording because it's only a year since I heard the 1997 recording for the first time. Your picture displays the 1997 recording. She made at least one more recording of both Messes around 1990 on the organ of la Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile d´Albi. There is also a recording apparently from the 1950es of the Messe Pour les Paroisses on the Discophiles Francais label on an unspecified organ.

Of the 1970 recording and the 1997 recording I prefer the 1970 recording, but this may be for subconscious nostalgic reasons.
