I has my attention now  :)  This organ has some similarities with the Louis Alexandre Clicquot organ in Houdan .

I'll check that. The one it made me think of is a c19 organ at Francheville also in Normandy on this really nice recording

Symphony no 5.

On a scale of 10, I'd give this version 11. For the sound, 7. It's wide, very clear, a tad distant. A must-have.

Dec 8, the day of Jean Sibelius and Finnish music in Finland. So:

Sibelius - Symphony No. 6 - Iceland Symphony Orchestra - Petri Sakari

Have to say Sibelius just isn't my cup of tea. I prefer Einar Englund and Einojuhani Rautavaara of Finnish composers...  :P
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Yeah and if the Finnish government finds out how you feel about Sibelius, then they'll ban you from the country and you'll have to live in Russia. :D

I just bought myself this. I may be the only person in the world, but I like Jan Willem Jansen's Louis Couperin

By the way while looking at different Houdan recordings, I came across this by an organist you like -- do you know it? It's on spotify.

Good morning everybody.  Or good day, etc, wherever!
Gettting today off to some Ture Rangstrom Chamber works.  I was sent this disc a whopping 11 years ago by Florestan (at least I think it was Florestan).  It has provided me with many, many great listenings over the years, and this morning is no exception.  Honestly, what a great way to start today!

Don't know what that thing is beside the disc, it was the only decent pic of the cover I could find...   ;D

Hey, buddy! Grand to see ye!

Dmitar Nenov: Piano Concerto

An extraordinary, compelling work reminding me of Busoni, Prokofiev and Cyril Scott:

Shostakovich, symphony no 7. The 1968 recording (the set also includes the 1978 one). That was my first ever disc of a Shostakovich symphony, bought sometime in my late teens. Not only is the music-making tremendously intense, but the character of the 1960s sound from Melodiya is instantly recognizable. It makes for an indelible impression. What a musical encounter !

The sonata, K448 was a highlight. The other works less so.

Yes indeed !

Russian music performed properly invariably leaves me in a state of euphoria and agitation. It pushes my emotional buttons more than other types of music.  The Tchaikovsky 5 under Monteux I listened to earlier today is another case in point.
