Erato of course!

This one?

Is it consistently aggressive and angry all throughout?

Of course not, not consistently, if it were it would be as one sided as Volodos's -- just the other side!

Sampled it. We must have very different notions of "aggressive and angry".  ;D

Well, to each one's own. Bottom line, "aggressive and angry" is not how I think of Brahms' music, be it early, middle or late.

CD 2
As our JBS reported, mainly divers oddments, the lengthier tracks being "orchestral potpourris" drawn from Carmen, Tannhäuser and Gounod's Faust. The vanguard of "opera without words"?

"between tracks" we get ambient scratchiness to give us the authentic turntable experience (it doesn't get in the way.) Also on the program is the Intermezzo from Cavelleria rusticana, which now always reminds me of A Midsummer Night's Dream with Kevin Kline & Stanley Tucci :)

Now:

CD 47 with guest Mischa Maisky

Tchaikovsky
Vars on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33
Lensky's Aria from Eugene Onegin
Nocturne, Op. 19/4
Andante cantabile
Souvenir de Florence, Op. 70

I really like the Inbal recordings. More Bruckner from Monday, picking up from #7, I think.

Me too, thanks for posting it --- fantastic performance! It's just that I don't find it "aggressive and angry" at all. Passionate, even passional, check. Red hot (sic!) romantic, check. Turbulent at times, check. Aggressive and angry, never.

Actually, I am not aware of any 19-th century composer whose music can be described as "aggressive and angry" all throughout any single work, be it a piano piece or a symphony and everything in between.
