Bruckner Symphony No. 2 Tintner with the National Orchestra of Ireland

I think this is my favourite Bruckner symphony cycle. I really appreciate seeing your Bruckner listens. Thank you.

Scott's 'Neptune', along with PC No.1, is my favourite of his compositions.

His style is rather voluptuous strongly reminding me of Debussy or Scriabin. Must investigate the PC 1 then!
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.

Parry: Symphonic Variations

I had forgot how amazing and noble this work is. Parry at his best. Stanford's Irish Rhapsodies came to mind at listening to it. Terrific!

Very much enjoy Symphony #2 here also. I have quite a lot of time for Parry.

And to end tonight's listening, Florent Schmitt's ultra-lush version with orchestral accompaniment of his J'entends dans le lointain... (originally composed for solo piano as the first section of the triptych Ombres). Vincent Larderet plats the piano part, and Daniel Kawka conducts the OSE Symphonic Orchestra.

A superb piece, in a superb performance (the only recording it's ever received)...

Joseph Jongen: Three Symphonic Movements.

Don't have vivid memories of the Jongen, but the Samuel is a bore.

Thought I'd let Hindemith be Czech for the day!

Lloyd: The Eighth

A simply masterful piece.

Wordsworth: The First

This is a diffuse Wordsworth, so it wasn't worth the time (no pun intended). The 5th is much more worth your attention.

Second listen to the Seventh and Eighth from this set

Together, an hour's worth of LvB at his best.

My feeling as well, although I need to reassess that impression. I listened to it only once (zzzzz) some years ago.
