Haydn, the piano trios dedicated to Rebecca Schroeter (Hob. 24-26, Landon 38-40) including the 'Gypsy Rondo' movement.

A total delight like most of these works/recordings. A perfect accompaniment, or antidote, to dealing with legal documents on a Monday morning.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, too. After all these years, I still love that Op.80, and I don't care who knows it.

Daniel Sternefeld: Interludes and Finale from 'Mater Dolorosa'

I've seen this composer being mentioned recently. Some intense and somewhat visceral music here. Very enjoyable.

As would be expected. Barbirolli excelled in RVW.

Françaix is a composer I need to investigate more, though perhaps not along the Mirror Image full immersion model 8)

Ehhhh...there are far more interesting composers you should explore first, Karl. ;)

Glazunov: Symphony No. 9 [Serebrier]

Glazunov died before he completed this symphony. Apparently, a Mr. Gavril Yudin orchestrated the first movement from a piano sketch.
I have never been a fan of others completing unfinished works by composers who left unfinished works. This is another case in point. With respect to Mr. Yudin, this effort does not even come close to the level of orchestration one would expect from Glazunov himself. Having listened to the previous eight symphonies, this orchestration sounds empty, shallow, hollow and even amateurish when compared with what has preceded it.
Yes, harsh, I know, but true.

I agree. Unlike Jeffrey/vandermolen (;)), I was totally underwhelmed by this fragment/completion.

Absolutely, the endearing slow movement never fails to melt my heart.

An interesting and little usual combination that of Henze with Tippett. The symphonies by Henze I dig better are 7-10. I don't have strong recollections of his No. 2.

Thomas de Hartmann
Ukrainian Christmas Carols - a wonderful orchestral work, rather in the spirit of Liadov's 'Eight Russian Folksongs' - very moving, especially in current circumstances (performed by Theodore Kuchar with the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine). Thanks to Harry for the recommendation:

Here's David Hurwitz, enthusing wildly over the CD in a recent video:

The extracts that "He Who Need Not Be Named" played from this CD sounded wonderfully enticing - I'll be listening to the whole album in due course!
