Harry, Que, Premont - don't overlook this release. When you're in the mood for this sort of thing, it's agreeable. Gombert style.

Hope you're enjoying that!  :)

Noted!  :)  I hadn't seen that one before - I am glad to see that they are still recording.

Lined it up for a listen on Spotify!

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

Sofar, I haven't found Senfl to be a particularly interesting composer... But a good performance can help, now I'm curious!

I very much still am, Que. Up to the Rondo Alla Turca, right now  8)

I do not know her DG set. The only other set I know is Uchida's which has not always hit the mark with me. This Pires definitely is so far.

I've always conveniently assumed that the performances would be about the same and this turns out to be a mistake.  I went for the DG set for the great piano sound. I will listen to the earlier recordings. :)

Dislike what you dislike, but please spare us the derogatory pseudo-psychoanalysis.

You misunderstand. It was about my thoughts, not yours.

Nice. I particularly like the Troisième Leçon (and the passage "Jerusalem, convertere ad Dominum..." is sublime).

Good morning, Olivier.

Good afternoon Rafael.

The two Jerusalems caught my ear as well but overall, I don't feel the singers' voices are to my taste. I'll have to stream alternative singers.

I don't know that particular recording, I must add.  ;)

Perhaps Rousset? A personal favourite.
