POOT: Symphonies Nos. 3, 5 and 7

Hamerik Symphonie Nr. 5+6

Even though not masterpieces, enjoyable works!
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

This is the very work and performance that hooked me to Pettersson 25 years ago. Not so much the 2nd symphony with which it was coupled, though. A tougher nut to crack, it took me a few years to 'get' it.

My introduction to Pettersson as well. Talking of tough nuts I have yet, after a few attempts, to sit through the whole of the 9th Symphony.
You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

The 16th has some great moments as well. That was one of the very best HB LPs.
As was this one:

I'm sure you'd enjoy it Lol. No 8, a searching and visionary work, is my favourite and No.9 is one of the best.

Bernard Foccroulle plays on a Schott Orgel der Klosterkirche in Muri.
Pitch: =a' 440 Hz.
Temperament: Evenredig zwevend. (Van Biezen)

Despite the destroying nature of trends , this organ by Thomas Schott was brought back to a reasonable standard as to what it should be when it was build between 1619-1630. Berhardt Edskes and Metzler Orgelbau, restored it to its present situation, between 1965-1972.
To my ears it sounds good. Foccroulle is in a relaxed mood for a change.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

Hi Todd - I had a couple of English's CD when I started to collect Kim - on Amazon for the physical discs, Brilliant prices where just hard to beat vs. Grand Piano; but I agree that English is quite good and both on fortepianos.  I just setup a Spotify playlist of the 12 Kent English recordings available there - will take a listen and compare.  Kim obviously satisfied me enough to start concentrating on her recordings - NOW, will Grand Piano come out w/ a big English box (and not sure if he is done?).  Dave

You know and I know that the only suitable answer is to have both.  The instrument variety alone justifies it.
