Leo Weiner.

Orchestral Works, Volume I.

Ballad for Clarinet and Orchestra
Csongor and Tunde, Ballet. (Second version)
World premiere recordings.

Budapest SO, Valeria Csanyi.

A second successful start into the music of Leo Weiner, to my ears a very interesting composer.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Hans Eklund.

Symphony No 3/5/11,

Norrköping SO, Hermann Bäumer.

Quite a sensation in sound and colours. An orchestral magician with passionate expression. He drives a hard but satisfying bargain.

I have yet to listen to this recording (I received it several days ago), but would definitely like to know your thoughts on it.

Yeah I only realized AFTER I listened to it that was not the recording you recommended!  Oops!  The music was surprisingly melodic and lyrical.  But I had no idea what to expect but yeah it is quite good and I'll be listening to more from this composer.

The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

Harry

Karl Goldmark.

Symphonic Poems Volume I.

Bamberger Symphoniker, Fabrice Bollon.

Absolute stunning works, and well performed and recorded too. Goldmark was a far better composer as all seem to think, well maybe not all.

Morning listening is the last of three Palestrina recordings to arrive on disc:
(Fortunately finding them was not as hard or expensive as I feared.)

An apt description of a very fine and interesting disc.

Now on disc 11 of this set, mostly by composers I never have heard of:

Traverso

Adam & Leoni

Just arrived  :)

Le Diable À Quatre

The Prayer and the Sword

Harry

Overtures from the British Isles.
Volume II.

BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Rumon Gamba.

A absolute marvelous series initiated by Chandos, As disc I number II gives equal pleasure. Unknown works, or almost, by known composers, recorded in marvelous sound, and it must be said, perfect performances. Recommended, both volumes. This CD I am going to use as a test CD on my new Esoteric CD player, amongst others.
