String Quartets Nos. 1 & 2
Petersen Quartett

Must revisit his first string quartet as it's been a while since I've listened to it (I have a recording of it in a boxed set by the Talich Quartet).  Don't know his second one.  How did you like it John?

This isn't a first-listen to either work, but I LOVE them both. These SQs, for me, are on par with those of Shostakovich, Janáček, Bartók et. al. in terms of individuality, inventiveness and emotional appeal.

What do you think of the album?

I like No.8. Others are just average for my personal preference.
Do you like seafood there, Karl? Clam chowder soup?

"A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people ... then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbour — such is my idea of happiness"

That is high praise indeed!
