Schubert

This Schubert music from Rosamunde incidental music has always appealed to me strongly and evokes a world where I can wander away dreamily.
This performance under Karl Münchinger is first class and recorded at the famous Sofiensaal in Vienna with its recognizable acoustics that give it extra shine and a certain personality that I miss in many modern recordings.

That is the Alain set that I also own. I have often thought about getting her second cycle for comparison purposes.

Do not consider her first  cycle it doen not sound nice, :)

I much prefer her analog cycle on Erato (the second cycle). The audio is a little less reverberant and her playing has more rhythmic clarity in the "second cycle." I've not heard her first.

After Korngold ends, I'll go for it. I remember liking it.

8) The Korngold is lovely, too.

Thank you both for your helpful comments.

When it comes to that, I'm a patriot so I'd rather have this:

One must be careful with it/them, though: after a few shots more, Rosamunde could turn into Der Teufel als Hydraulicus;D

Precisely what I meant.

As for who did it for the very first time, I really don't know. I suspect it's a Late Romantic thing, though. Slightly later than Tchaikovsky 5 (1888) came Franck D minor (1889).
The earliest example I know of that actually ends with music from an earlier movement in a manner that provides a resolution (as opposed to an interruption, in the case of Haydn 46 or Beethoven 5) is Mendelssohn's A minor string quartet from 1827.

I "connect" well with this.  0:)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

No and that's a shame, it's a very nice production and deserves a wider audience. The end of the television series is very moving, he loses his grip on reality, it is portrayed in a heart-wrenching way. It starts with being included in a kind of hospital, suffering from hair loss, well I leave the details for what they are. The images largely speak for themselves. The cinematography is beautiful.

Often there is only almost unintelligible muttering in a heavy Austrian accent.
This more rural character will certainly appeal to you.

Some French chamber music here as well: the Quatuor Champeil plays Ravel's String Quartet in F major, and Florent Schmitt's late (1947) String Quartet, op. 112

The recordings are from 1956, originally released on LP by Le Club Français du Disque (Ravel) and Pathé (Schmitt). AFAIK, this is the only recording ever made of the Schmitt piece.
