Nice! No. 2 The River is particularly beautiful. Palmgren's orchestration in his PCs is quite imaginative and colorful.

A unique pianist who seems to reach areas of expressivity and intimacy on the piano that nobody else ever has. The slower preludes in particular are breathtaking at times.

If the complete operas are as good as the orchestral excerpts/fantasies/syntheses from them that I've heard, then sign me up! Now let me just set aside 3 hours out of my schedule to listen to one.

Der Rosenkavalier not only contains some of Strauss' most opulent orchestral music, but the vocal writing is beautifully done. If you don't like vocals, then perhaps operatic music isn't for you.

Much as I like the symphonies, I enjoy the chamber symphonies, concerti, ballet music more.
