Carwithen (1922-2003): Concerto for Piano and Strings - a most engaging work with a deeply reflective slow movement. Carwithen was a fine composer. The CD has two different covers.

A big fan here, and not only because of her musical creations.  ;)
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

Smetana: Piano Trio

The most glorious piano trio without a slow movement. The organic element of the initial motif throughout reveals Smetana's mastery in the form.

Cool avatar, Manabu!

How would you imagine something like if Freud was a composer?

Good to know you enjoy some Schmitt's works. IIRC you didn't seem very enthusiastic about his music.

Some people here have been saying good things about this symphony. I'd only listened to it once, several years ago.

Vaughan Williams: A Pastoral Symphony (#3)
Slatkin: Philharmonia

I especially enjoyed the 3rd movement; the canonic passage near the end is great! I wasn't particularly impressed with the soprano on this recording (Linda Hohenfeld). This was a nice piece to end the night on.

I'm going through the Guarnieri symphonies numerically and have been throughly enjoying them. Next the 3rd!

I wasn't initially, but I've warmed up to his music over the past couple of months. I wouldn't claim he's one of my absolute favorite French composers, but I do think he wrote some exquisite music.

The jazzy 3rd symphony is my personal favorite.

Btw, I checked Reuven Rubin's art works and I love them.

Great stuff, Dry Brett. 8)

P.S. You're looking rather dapper as Sigmund Freud. :)

A good idea. I'll probably change avatars soon as well. Although, I do rather like this Sibelius one.
