A bunch of fine Clementi recordings.

There's something energetic and essentially optimistic about his works, that I like; though stylistically different and belonging to an earlier period, those qualities remind me a bit of what can be found in Weber.

The Bannister one on Naxos must be one of the best in their series with Clementi's piano music.
Sager on Hänssler is generally more lyrical, but still crisp and convincing.

A great set and my favourite performance of 'Church Windows'. I remember delaying my arrival at work when I first heard it on the car radio in the late 1980s. I had to find out what it was!

I would've pulled the car over and listened to the piece until it finished, too, Jeffrey. A great work.

Gorgeous music beautfully performed.

Pounds the table! For me, Rattle's Szymanowski series remain the best things he's done.

Schubert, Franz - Trout Quintet - difficult to pick the 'fill-in' pieces on a recording, often may determine a purchase?  I own the 2 sets below - prefer the Trio Wanderer, especially the coupling w/ the Hummel Quintet.  L'Archibudelli is one of my favorite period groups and I own many of their recordings but their Trout just is not up to their usual excellent standards (and reviews quite mixed) - what other 'Trout' recordings are in your collection?  Thanks - Dave :)

Did you have the libretto at hand? L'enfant is definitely a work in which the music is intimately connected to the action on stage.

I did not, and I'm sure that will make all the difference.

I went looking on Youtube: there are at least four complete staged productions that can be viewed there, although seems one Regie-theater and in English translation/adaptation.

I've been secretly looking for the artist with the most letters in his or her name, and I stumbled upon Viacheslav Apostel-Pankratowsky.  How could I pass this disc up?  VAP is one of those pianists who displays the admirable trait of being able to vary dynamic levels widely while not changing tempo - he will go from mezzo piano to forte and maintain a steady pulse.  A goodly number of pianists seem to speed up when hammering out notes.  He delivers all of the pieces splendidly and displays lovely tone.  Sonics are superb.

One strange thing with this disc, and it was a closeout optical disc purchase, is that it cannot be ripped.  I ran it through EAC just fine, and then when I went to listen, it was all white noise and digital screeches.  I have not run across a copy protected disc in years, and never from Genuin.
