They don't come across as friendly. They come across as deflecting.

If you're trying to have a serious conversation with someone in person, how do you feel if they keep smiling and chuckling at you?

Not sure why you are angry with my posts. All I said was I found it interesting, not surprising, and all of my conversations with people are met with smiles, serious or not.

SWR Radio SO - Heinz Holliger

Not sure why Vocal Works with Orchestra includes these instrumental works. Very dainty and atmospheric.

Lovely discs! Time to listen again. The Chant funèbre especially is impressive. And I'm glad Holliger found time & money (and scores) to perform the short orchestral extras.
I'm afraid time & money (and willing producers) are no longer available for further exploration and recording of both numbered symphonies; the Symphonie d'hymnes , religious(early) choral/orchestral works and more orchestral rarities.
A complete recording of the second symphony would be more than welcome - including the alternative "chorals" and the required 4 ondes Martenot....

Christlieb Sigmund Binder. (1723-1789)

Concertos for Two Harpsichords and Orchestra.

Bibiane Lapointe, plays on a Bruce Kennedy, Chateau d'Oex, 1987, after Dulcken, 1745.
Thierry Maeder, play on, a Bruce Kennedy, 1987, after Christian Zell., 1728.

Les Cyclops.

A very surprising composer. He impressed me with his concertos, somewhat brusque, but inventive, and by no means second rate concertos. Good performances and sound.

Indeed a superb work Jeffrey! And I love the artwork!
Me too Harry.

William Alwyn: Suites from Odd Man Out and The History of Mr Polly. Richard Hickox, London Symphony Orchestra
Odd Man Out is terrific. I consider its doomed processional to be one of Alwyn's finest works.

Two fine symphonies - my favourite works by both composers.

Yes, I am finding all of the vocal works exquisite, including the Chant funèbre which is icing on the cake.

I only own this recording and not the SWR boxes of Koechlin, but his later works are hit and miss with me, so I tread carefully.

Some thing by Letzbor I do not like, but this one is to my ears a success. Good sound too.

Fairly straightforward arrangements, Jeffrey. Nicely done, an agreeable listen. Not core rep, perhaps, but that is no detraction.
