Lisztianwagner

Terrific performance for the 4th Symphony, in my opinion, maybe a bit rushed just in the beginning, but powerful, vivid and beautifully thrilling overall.

The Bloch recording of the Mahler 7 is great.  Excellent playing, conducting, and sonics.

This afternoon's listening...

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

Not quite French but I was very impressed with this live Mahler 3 recently;

He's a top-class virtuoso, and the sound is excellent. In fact, I've never heard a bad release from Eudora...and least from a sound perspective.

String Quartet 4 in e minor
Panocha Quartet

I found Dvořák's 3rd a bit more put together thematically, at least compared to the interminable 2nd, but it goes on and on and on.

I find the 4th intriguing; the second mvt with the drone/pedal sounded static yet engaging. I will give it another go after a while.

Has it really been 4 1/2 years?
I have not attended a concert since then.
