I think this is a good find. Presumably young performers, you can sense they're listening to each other and responding in the moment at a concert with an audience. It's one of those recordings which capture the feeling of a real good night out very well. Worth a listen even if you feel you don't need yet another recording of the music.  Even at the level of sound it's interesting because it's like, you're there! Your living room has become, acoustically speaking. the Mozarthaus.

Great review. Wishlisted.

More Schütz:

Heinrich Schütz: Matthäus-Passion, SWV 479. Hilliard Ensemble

A surprisingly beautiful, largely monophonic setting of the Passion. I'm not sure I've heard any monophonic music written so late (1666).

New CD of suites from late baroque French operas. Should appeal to anybody who likes Lully or Rameau, though Royer is less immediately colorful than Rameau and this band is less colorful than Savall's (the harpsichord is foregrounded a little too much for me, probably because of who is playing it).

A beautiful work and a fine performance.

You're in for a treat, Jan.

I have the Corelli box as well and agree, it's very fine. I also recommend you the Tartini complete concertos box.

I have reached the "In nomine Domine" volume a few years ago and never got past it since. I should go to the next volume asap. The music is very good.
