It's a good 'un! The sound is not as good as on Barenboim's Erato recording, but the performance is more intense.

Schumann: Märchenbilder Op.113 (for viola and piano)

Nice enough, but not Schumann at his most distinctive imo. The final piece has a poignant nostalgic yearning to it that I do find touching.

Quote from: Pohjolas Daughter on May 07, 2024, 10:00:43 AMPerhaps it might be a prudent idea to get some sort of ear protection to dampen outside noises?  :(

PD

The chances of it happening again are so remote that no, it isn't really prudent.
I am now working on a discography of the works of Vagn Holmboe. Please visit and also contribute!

I've heard about this duo for a long time, but this is my first time hearing them play--very impressive!

Quote from: Madiel on May 07, 2024, 09:49:04 AMMostly yes. I'd think I'd be enjoying even more of it there hadn't been road works (specifically DRILLING) just outside my hotel room at 2:25am on Sunday. That wasn't a pleasant experience and my system hasn't fully recovered.

I thought they only do that here in Florida.

I have sat in a traffic jam here on I-95 because of construction at midnight on a Saturday.

This came across the desk today by chance:

Happy, jaunty little piece!

And so, after hearing that work for the first time, I used the opportunity to listen to this other excellent work by Theodore Dubois:

I do not know if they do this everywhere, but YouTube now has the highly annoying habit of inserting commercials in the middle of movements!  Ads appeared at random twice during both of the above!

Of course, YouTube wants money to NOT interrupt you with ads.   :o
