It is nice to have both, since sometimes a problem with streaming is solved by having the CD, and sometimes a problem on the CD is solved by streaming. I have no use for CDs themselves, since I immediately rip them and add then to my FLAC file collection (with a scan of the booklet). I with I were confident that lossless downloads will remain widely available.

After I have finished upgrading my system I will dive in the theory and practicality of ripping some of my CD'S, and what equipment I need to do that. At the moment I am auditioning the Bricasti Amp M 15, and the Bricasti Pre amp M 20, and selected  better interlinks, XLR from Ansuz C 2, which I might change in a later stadium to a C 3, depending on the outcome of their respective qualities.
Thanks for alerting me to the fact that ripping is a possibility.

The sheer size of your collection makes it impractical. Just ask Gurn, he is still working on it! Whatever you can stream doesn't need to be ripped imo.

My last CD player — long since sold — was from the French high-end brand Jadis. And even it, while playing music magically, had technical problems with low-quality CDs or CD rips on burned discs. Streaming turns all of this into non-issues, always and in every case working perfectly.
