Mullova delivers Bach with the flawless precision of a well-oiled machine. And about as much feeling for the music. I gave up before the end.

I had the opposite impression.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

Some Korngold (film and concert music) tonight. John Mauceri conducts the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra in Between Two Worlds (with Alexander Frey as piano soloist) and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin ( in the Symphonic Serenade and Theme & Variations).

I probably haven't listened to this CD in over 25 years!  :o

There are two early versions of Finlandia here, plus I think I caught some of the Press Celebrations Music earlier in my Scènes Historique recording with Sir Alexander Gibson.

Otherwise, this is mostly vigorous music all around.

Just finished the Chopin concerto from this, arrangement for piano and string quartet.

As part of this

I'm not sure who did the arrangement, but the result was quite satisfying.

The first set of Scenes Historiques is indeed a reworking of this earlier music. Whereas the second set was wholly original.

Everything magnificently appears in the eternal now.

In Osho's words: "When the mind is gone and you are left alone without it, a fragrance is released. You have come home. You are fulfilled. The thousand-petaled lotus of your being has opened."

A quiet and peaceful collection of pieces by Buxtehude, Kerll, Froberger, and Böhm fits the moment beautifully.

MV Cremona is a tiny but very interesting label!  :)

Starting my day with:

Absolutely lovely. Cannot believe this had flown under my radar for so long.

I got a digital copy of this sort of by accident. I was not interested. Never heard of him and dislike the cheesy picture. However, it's crazy dynamic action packed playing, and in great sound (so far, anyway--I'm on disk 7 of 11).
It's all good...

A most worthwhile 'Rite of Spring'.
