A compelling work, seems to blend Neo-classical influences with 20th century expressionism. Will listen to Kashkashian's recording of the piece next.

Love it!

Mister Sharpe

Something of a disappointment; recording is a bit hard and brittle and the performers occasionally have some intonation troubles. Probably not a keeper, even though this is a recording premiere for these works.  Some more recent performances are available. The cello, it's worth remembering, was Offenbach's instrument and his melodic gifts are everwhere present in these duets.

You know you're a Reynaldo Hahn fan when you ... see this LP and think to yourself, oh, yeah, Massenet was Hahn's teacher.

For Bruckner's birthday, a live recording of the Eighth from 1966, with Joseph Keilberth and the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, just uploaded a few days ago.

So far, marvelous. I'm not that familiar with Keilberth's work, FWIW.
