Thank you for clarifying this.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

Yes, an embarrassment of riches is when you are so blessed and so fortunate, you feel a little embarrassed around other less fortunate people.  :)

A rich and beautiful experience. Vox Luminis are extraordinary.

Although I later became captivated by Bob van Asperen's complete Froberger edition (Aeolus), this recording by Enrico Baiano was my 1st encounter with Froberger.

The influences on Froberger's music were French, through his close friend Louis Couperin, and Italian, through his teacher Frescobaldi. Baiano's take is a touch idiosyncratic and very Italian.  :)

Thanks again for the recommendation. I listened a bit yesterday, and today I'm listening to the whole thing. I like it. Beautiful sound and mood. :)

Mozart, WA - Violin Concertos - SO many excellent performances available - at the moment now own the first three below; Christoph Koncz plays Wolfie's own violin - SHOULD I add the historic recordings of Grumiaux (from the 1950s-60s)?  Dave

Enescu: Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 (Orchestre National de France / Cristian Măcelaru). Among many people who do this piece well, Măcelaru is my current fave, having heard his two live recordings with the WDR and now this studio version with the Orchestre National. He has a great feel for pacing the piece, and the back-and-forth between sensuous relaxation and fiery rhythmic outbursts.

And a tiny moment I love that he makes the most of: in the grand pause near the end, he really pauses — here for around 5 seconds. Plus, he seems to coax musicians (in all of these cases) to play at their best. The outstanding sound quality doesn't hurt, either.

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural

I never got a set of Poulenc's complete piano music because I was warned that repertoire contained a lot of trivialities. But Andre Previn's selected recital, coupled with two works by Roussel, makes great enjoyment out of the music. A very satisfying experience. The Roussel is a little bit spikier and meatier, so if the Poulenc is too sweet for you, it'll be a nice palate cleanser.
