Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.

and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Penderecki's 1st and 5th. His fifth symphony is now my favorite of his symphonies.

First listen to this recent purchase...

Vocal and instrumental soloists, and the Ensemble Télémaque directed by Raoul Lay, perform Boucourechliev: Orion II for five brass instruments, piano and two percussionists, Orion III for solo piano, Trois fragments de Michel-Ange, for soprano, flute (and flute in B) and piano, and Grodek, for soprano, flute and three percussionists.

A very striking and individual voice. Liking this a lot.

If "the greatest symphonist" meant the greatest number of excellent symphonies, Haydn would win hands down.

In my book, he wins hands down.

This is an excellent release. Music to dream, meditate and reminisce by. Soul soothing. Highly recommended with Florestan's Stamp of Approval.

I take the opportunity to reiterate what I was among the first GMGers to utter: Slava Ukraini! Putin and his minions to the noose!

And if you'll excuse my French, Fuck Trump, Witkoff and Hegseth!

@ritter , don't worry, I'm not going to push it further --- I just had to say it, sort of dixi et salvavi animam meam.

Agreed to all Andrei!
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

On Thanksgiving Day, my hosts offered an entr'acte with a recording they love, which I hadn't heard in a very long time: Lutosławski's Les espaces du sommeil (1975), with John Shirley-Quirk, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Terrific performance and recording.

Thanks for your mention but what is "true" indian music?IMHO In this respect, the country appears much less sensitive to external influences than China and Japan. It's a question mark.

Best

The melody sounds like the musical scale of Okinawa music more than that of Indian music. Specially, as for the 7th note, it sounds like major 7 rather than flat 7, which is often used in the Indian music. I love the composition.
