Interesting. A name I'm not familiar with but intrigued.

The final CD of this set.
The CD wallet is illustrated with the piece that forms the next to last track, Rondeau partly plucked and partly bowed or completely bowed, as one wishes.

Somehow I prefer her piano and cello concertos to the chamber music.

Franz Schmidt: String Quartet.

Conventional (for time and place) yet original too. Organic flow and warmth to the music which I liked very much.

Also listened to Schmidt's Piano Quintet played by Vienna Philharmonia Quintet. Not as distinctive as the String Quartet. However, a slow movement to die for.

Sheer orchestral opulence. A lovely wallow.

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

This morning brought a pleasant surprise: the electricity was on. I still had to put on warm clothes, go out into the yard, and go down to the basement to reset the stabilizers, which for some reason hadn't turned on by themselves.

But now I can listen to music right away, without waiting for the schedule to change. How much does a person really need to feel happy? Not much, I think. Everything is almost perfect; all that's left is to make myself a strong cup of tea.

I heartily endorse your choice of recording!  :)

I believe the original LP was the first BIS recording of Holmboe. The BIS label was only a couple of years old at most.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

Francisco Correa de Arauxo.
Tientos.
Libro de tientos y discursos de música práctica y theórica de órgano intitulado Facultad orgánica. Alcala 1626, de Herares.
Patrick Bismuth (Violin, Viola, Viola da spalla).  Louis Thiry, Organ, Reconstruction in the style of the 17th century by Pascal Quoirin's workshop, Meantone Temperament, Pitch= 440.
Recorded, 2011, at the Saint-Jacques Parish Church in Mont-Saint-Aignan, France.

These works by de Arauxo I never heard before, and that surprised me quite a bit. Despite the title of these works, they ooze tons of unscientific unpractical emotions. a fine interplay between the organ and the Violin, Viola, and Viola da spalla, in which the organ pipes Bourdon 8'  of the second keyboard, and the Bourdon 8' of the first keyboard play a great role, not to forget the Cromorne'8 and Human voice 8'. The Viola da Spalla is an instrument I like very much and fits in perfectly. I have a jolly good time with this recording. I am also quite content with the sound of this organ, a good balance and expertly tuned. Both musicians are great advocates of these works.

Ilmari Hannikainen. 1892-1955.
Piano quartet, opus 2.
Oliver Triendl, Christel Lee, German Tcakulov, Jonathan Roozeman.
2025, Kupferhaus Planegg, Reutlingen, Germany.

For me a new composer. In my large collection there is nothing of him. I am not much into piano concertos, so it's the Piano quartet I play, which is a wonderful piece in the late romantic style. He never strays from this direction, which is fine by me. Little of him is recorded. On the Hansler label I found a Symphony and yet another piano concerto which stands to reason, the Piano was his instrument. Will in time also listen to that CD. The sound of this CD is a bit of a mystery to me, for I cannot define how it sounds other than it sound peculiar. All instruments are accounted for, and I hear everyone of them in great detail, not diffuse yet its not clear. And it is quite frontal, hard and to closely miked. The acoustics of the Kupferhaus is to blame.

VICENTE BASET [1719-1764]
Symphonies. Madrid, 1753.
FORMA ANTIQVA, Aarón Zapico.
Recorded at Estudio Uno, Colmenar Viejo, Spain 2019.

Baset writes the rare indication "Allegro con valentía" at the beginning of the 10th Symphony. It seems to be a declaration of intent when it comes to realizing his compositions, which are far removed from the fashion for Italian imitation.  Breathtaking, experimental, courageous music that drinks from the theatrical effects of a fascinating time full of chiaroscuro. This is a uncompromising, imaginative interpretation, showcasing a composer that needs attention, and is worth listening to. Quite adventurous, thus it sounds quite new to my ears. Well recorded and performed.
