I have this movie that's really huge but it has no chapter file. It's Cleopatra with Liz and Dick, and there are actually 2 parts to the film which is sometimes ripped as a single file, other times as Part 1/Part 2. My original copy was 720p in 2 parts and had no chapter files. My upgrade one is a single 1080p file, also no chapter file.

So I go looking for a chapter file for the whole movie, and guess what I find? Right, the only ones are for part 1 and 2 separately. Now what do I do? At first I load the chapter files and the whole film in a merger program and see if I can get the chapter files to work consecutively in a remux. I couldn't figure out how to make it work. So a light bulb went on. I have the movie in 2 parts, why don't I just merge the chapter file parts with their movie halves, an easy task, and then append Part 2 of the movie with chapters to Part 1 with its chapters, creating the whole 720p movie with all its chapter breaks just as nature intended?

That worked beautifully, so I have a whole 720p Cleopatra with all 53 chapter breaks. The final step is to use the same merger program again by loading the chapterless 1080p Cleo and then adding the 720p, at which point the program asks me what kind of merge do I want, add or append? I choose add and then x out the audio, video and subs, leaving only the chapter file. And waalaa!!. I'll watch this behemoth later in the week.

If my memory of it is correct then I fear it wont justify all the effort you've put into it.

I know the movie well. What justifies all the effort is what I learned doing it. I found out where to get chapter files and how to add them, even when I have to improvise a solution that isn't in any "how to's". The ones I read were all about merging separate video files into a movie, not add a chapter file for a part of the movie to a chapter file for the rest of the movie to....the movie.
